Runway Grand 2011: Maine Made and Remade is the inspiration of The Grand’s executive director Zoe Scott. The Grand developed a fashion-show luncheon in 2005 with the help of Jane Bradley and Paula Kee, who did the work of giants to raise money for the theatre – the funds from the 2009 and 2010 shows making possible the restoration of The Grand’s historic glass tower.

This year, the show will be an evening event, professionally staged and choreographed, featuring all Maine designers and held on Thursday, August 4th. “It is part of The Grand’s mission to reach out to our community – and this seemed the perfect way to include our regional artisans and to showcase Maine’s creative economy.” Proceeds from Runway Grand 2011 will serve toward Phase II of the façade restoration of this 1938 art-deco theatre – the Grand marquee. The evening begins with a cocktail hour at 5:00 pm, with the fashion show at 6pm.

Each designer participating in the event will be showcasing their art not only on the catwalk (a special runway is being built out into the auditorium for the event) but in a post-show trunk sale immediately following the fashion show.
