Student actors will collaborate to create their original take on this ancient Celtic myth, bringing it to the shores of Downeast Maine! Based on the myth of the selkie, a magical creature who can transform from seal to human, Seal Brother transports us to the past to explore themes of magic, loss, and family through the eyes of those who still believe in fairy tales. The intensive will give students a chance to study various crafts of theatre arts-- voice, movement, ensemble, devising, design-- alongside the production of their play.

Students Actors will bring beloved author Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time to life! Meg Murray, the awkward, brilliant daughter of two prominent scientists finds herself an unlikely heroine when her father disappears. She must join forces with humans, aliens, and even “witches” to travel through space and time to save her father. Students will participate in intensive training to hone their craft as young theatre artists, with continued opportunity to expand their theatrical vocabulary and skills beyond the scope of performance. This includes dramaturgical exploration, the basics of devising movement, voice and speech, and technical design. This classic tale of adventure and coming of age with a science fiction twist offers a unique opportunity to explore this variety of skills.
